Who has to pay ELTs?

According to Italian legislation on waste management, payment for the correct disposal of ELTs (end-of-life tyres) is the responsibility of the tyre manufacturer or importer. This means that the cost of taking back and disposing of ELTs must be covered by the manufacturer or importer who introduced the tyres to the Italian market.

However, the manufacturer or importer may decide to pass on the cost of handling ELTs to the end consumer, for example by including the new tyres in the selling price.

In this way, the end consumer could find himself paying the cost of ELT disposal, but only if the manufacturer or importer has chosen this option.

In any case, it is important that ELTs are collected and disposed of correctly and in accordance with current environmental regulations. To this end, there are specialized ELT collection and disposal services that can help companies manage their waste in a sustainable and efficient way, such as Valli Gestioni Ambientali.
