Regulations

The proper management of waste collection, storage, treatment, recovery and disposal is a responsibility governed by many regulations and represents a fundamental commitment to the protection of the environment and public health.

In Italy, the main regulatory reference on the subject is Legislative Decree 3 April 2006, no. 152 as amended, known as the Environmental Code. Compliance with this legislation is not only a legal obligation, but also an act of social responsibility : proper waste management makes a concrete contribution to environmental sustainability and ecological transition.

Obligations of the waste producer

Companies that produce waste are directly responsible for its proper management. According to current regulations, the manufacturer is required to:

  • correctly classify the waste, attributing the EER code and any hazardous characteristics;
  • select  authorized and suitable conveyors and treatment plants;
  • verify the authorizations of the subjects in charge of transport and processing;
  • supervise the entire process, up to the correct recovery or final disposal;
  • complete and keep mandatory documentation, including, but not limited to:
    • Waste identification forms (FIR);
    • Loading and unloading registers;
    • Single Environmental Declaration Model (MUD).
