Why is the cost of waste collection increasing?

Perché il costo del ritiro rifiuti sta aumentando

There are numerous waste producers who have been contacting us in recent months for explanations: what are the causes of the increase – even by 30% – in prices for waste collection?

The issue is complex, but it can be summarized as follows: in Lombardy there is no longer room in incinerators for the waste of companies or for the waste from the separate collection of Lombard families which must therefore be transported to landfills in neighboring regions or burned abroad.

The lack of space for the disposal of Lombardy waste derives from the fact that the managers of landfills and incinerators in Lombardy prefer to give priority to the garbage of Lazio and Campania, which, due to the lack of disposal plants on their territory, are turning to the structures of northern Italy and which, in order to solve the situation,  are willing to pay more.

What are the consequences?  If before the system in Lombardy was self-sufficient, now Lombardy waste must be disposed of in neighboring regions; they end up in landfills and incinerators in Liguria, Veneto, Piedmont and Tuscany, or abroad. The transfer is one of the main causes of the increase in waste recovery costs to which companies are subject at this historical moment.

A situation that is paradoxical.
