Industrial Waste

What is industrial waste?
The term industrial waste commonly refers to special waste, generated by economic activities such as industrial, artisanal, commercial, agricultural or service activities.
According to Article 183 of Legislative Decree 152/2006 as amended., waste is defined as “any substance or object which the holder discards or intends or is required to discard”.
What legislation governs the management of industrial waste?
The management of industrial waste in Italy is governed by Legislative Decree 152/2006 as amended (Consolidated Environmental Act), which replaced the previous Presidential Decree 915/1982 and Legislative Decree 22/1997 (Ronchi Decree).
The guiding principle is the European Waste Hierarchy, which sets out the following order of priority: prevention, preparation for reuse, recycling, recovery and disposal.
